Around Wootton Bridge

Wootton Bridge village shops are only 5 minutes walk away and offer a good selection, including a post office, a Tesco Express, a Spar shop, launderette, a choice of public houses and takeaways. It is about midway between Ryde and Newport and within a short distance from the main ferry terminals of Fishbourne (Wightlink) and East Cowes (Red Funnel). The main bus route is located on the main road with buses every 20 minutes. The village is located amidst beautiful countryside, the lovely Wootton Creek and Mill Pond being central to the village.  Kite Hill forms the eastern boundary of the village.  The Creek  used by yachtsmen and boaters. The Millpond is home to herons, egrets and kingfishers, with the surrounding countryside having red squirrels, foxes, badgers and dormice.  Old photographs of Wootton Bridge can be found on www.woottonbridgeiow.co.uk

The village has a mixture of modern and victorian buildings including the 11th century Parish Church of St.Edmunds, and The Sloop Inn in Mill Square. For  walkers and ramblers there are many walks both within and around the village. Also of interest is Firestone Copse (beside the campsite) with picnic sites and walks, with views across the Millpond. Wootton Bridge Parish Council can be found on www.woottonbridge.org.uk
